Father, deliver us from evil. You said in your Word that we should “confess our sins to each other, and pray for each other, so that we may be healed." (James 5:16). Lord, may we forgive those who have wronged us. And reach out to people we have sinned against to apologize and make things right. Shine your light in us and through us and deliver us from evil. Amen.

Matthew West’s song Forgiveness was inspired by Renee Napier, whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Eric Smallridge. Remarkably, Renee and members of her family forgave Eric and appeared before a judge to have his sentence cut in half to give him a chance at a new life.
